Privacy policy

This policy explains how The Outpost Nigeria Newspaper (“we”) collects and uses personal data, in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA), the regulations of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) and, for readers in the EU and UK, the GDPR.

What we collect

Account details (name, email, password hash); newsletter subscriptions; subscription and payment records (plan, amount, date, reference — card details are processed by Paystack or Stripe and never stored by us); comments you post; and, with your consent, analytics about how you use the site.

Why we use it

To provide your account and subscription (contract), to send newsletters you asked for (consent), to keep the site secure and prevent fraud (legitimate interest), and to meet legal and tax obligations.

Sharing

We share data only with processors that help us run the service — payment providers (Paystack, Stripe), email delivery, hosting and, if you consent, analytics — under contracts that protect your data. We do not sell personal data.

International transfers

Some providers process data outside Nigeria. We rely on adequacy decisions or appropriate safeguards as required by the NDPA.

Retention

We keep account data while your account is open, payment records for as long as tax law requires, and newsletter data until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

You can access, correct, port or delete your data, withdraw consent and object to processing. Use the tools on your account page or contact our Data Protection Officer at the email address listed on our Contact page. You may also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
